A short story

about me

I've always been drawn to making things — sketching, experimenting, turning ideas in my head into something I could actually see. I didn't think too much about where it would lead, I just knew I enjoyed the process.

Over time, that curiosity became a career. From creating visuals for musicians while still in school to working with global brands and art festivals, I realised there isn't just one way to create — just your way.

Today, I guide learners to explore their own style, not chase perfection. Because the best work doesn't come from pressure, it comes from enjoying the process, and trusting your ideas enough to bring them to life. ✨

Q

In one sentence, what do you do?

I am a freelance visual artist, which means I create various forms of visuals — from illustrations and graphic designs to animation — to bring my client's abstract ideas to life.

Q

What's something small that always makes your day better?

An ice latte. Oat milk preferably, but regular milk is fine too.

Q

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

Honestly, even when I'm not working, I'm usually still illustrating or making art for fun. But apart from that, I love just hanging out with friends or catching a good film.

Q

One random thing you love that has nothing to do with your job.

I love animals — not in the standard "cat or dog person" way, but more of a general interest, specifically reptiles. I just like reading facts and learning about them. Guess you can call me an animal nerd.

Q

If a friend had to describe your "vibe", what would they say?

It really depends on who you ask, but I think the safe generic answer is "chill". I hope?

Q

What's one small teaching habit you have that others might not notice?

I tend to pace back and forth quite a bit when I'm speaking. I guess I'm naturally just a little fidgety, though I don't know if anyone has actually noticed. Haha.

Q

Share 2–4 past projects, works, or experiences you feel best represent your journey.

It's honestly hard to pick because I think every project shapes my journey in some way. But here are some highlights:

  • Doing the cover and MV art for Gentle Bones back in 2017 when I was still in school really kicked off my freelance career.
  • In 2019 I was invited to do a Today At Apple session where I conducted a public workshop in the Apple store at Orchard — definitely a cool teaching experience.
  • Being commissioned by Lamborghini APAC for their 60th anniversary. It's always surreal when big names trust you with their vision.
  • Creating a physical installation for Light to Night as part of Singapore Art Week 2024 — my journey is shaped by both the commercial space and my background in fine arts. The two worlds just blur together for me — I honestly just love creating.
Q

How many years have you been in your field, teaching, training, or mentoring?

I've been a freelance visual artist for about 8 years now, and while I've done workshops along the way, I've been officially training and mentoring for the last two.

Q

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

I guess just meeting people. And I know this sounds a bit cliché, but I honestly do love seeing the works learners come up with and just being surrounded by that creative energy. Legit legit.

Q

If your class had one "unwritten rule", what would it be?

One of my mottos for art making — or any form of creation — is you have to actually enjoy the process and have fun. It's something I constantly emphasise in class.
