If you've ever owned a DSLR or mirrorless camera and felt like you were only scratching the surface of what it could do, this course was made for you. In this exclusive collaboration with Canon, Hustle brings you a comprehensive 2-day photography workshop that takes you from the basics of your camera's controls all the way through to shooting portraits, street scenes, architecture, and more, with real confidence and real results.

You'll get hands-on with Canon equipment provided by Canon, and learn from industry-experienced trainers who'll guide you through everything from the exposure triangle to lens compression, shooting modes to creative techniques. Whether you're bringing your own camera or using one of Canon's, you'll leave this course shooting like you know exactly what you're doing, because you will.

  • The Exposure Trinity: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO explained
  • Understanding and using the various shooting modes on your DSLR or mirrorless camera

Know Your Camera

Get properly acquainted with your DSLR or mirrorless camera, its controls, settings, and everything it's capable of.

  • Understanding the camera body: buttons, dials, and menus
  • Shooting modes explained: Auto, P, A/Av, S/Tv, M, and when to use each
  • Navigating key camera functions and customising settings
  • Introduction to camera accessories: lenses, filters, straps, and stabilisers

The Exposure Triangle

The foundation of all great photography. Master these three elements and you master your camera.

  • Aperture: controlling light and depth of field
  • Shutter speed: freezing motion or creating blur intentionally
  • ISO: managing sensitivity and grain in different lighting conditions
  • Balancing all three for perfectly exposed shots in any situation

Lenses: Perspective, Compression & Creative Depth

Your lens choice changes everything, from how subjects look to how much depth your image has.

  • Understanding focal lengths and their effect on perspective

Do I need prior photography experience?

None at all. The course is structured to be beginner-friendly, starting from the fundamentals of how your camera works before building into more advanced techniques.

What if I don't own a camera?

No problem, Canon Singapore will provide equipment for learners who don't have their own camera. Everyone gets to fully participate regardless of what gear they own.

Can I bring a camera from a different brand?

Absolutely. While the course is run in partnership with Canon, the techniques and principles taught apply across all DSLR and mirrorless cameras. You're welcome to bring whatever camera you have.

What photography styles will we cover?

The course covers portrait, street, photojournalism, and architecture photography, giving you a well-rounded foundation across multiple styles and scenarios.

How long is the course?

The workshop runs over 2 days (16 hours total). We offer both weekday and weekend intakes to suit your schedule.
